Trigger automations when someone watches your video
This integration allows you to send video view events from Videolink to ActiveCampaign.
Instead of just getting an email notification, you can:
- Trigger automations when a video is watched
- Segment users based on engagement
- Build smarter follow-ups for sales and marketing
Perfect for:
- Demo follow-ups
- Lead nurturing
- Product onboarding flows
How it works
- You send a Videolink video
- A user watches it
- Zapier detects the view
- An event is sent to ActiveCampaign
- Automations are triggered instantly
Requirements
- Zapier account
- ActiveCampaign account
- Videolink account
Step-by-step setup
Step 1: Create a new Zap
In Zapier, click Create Zap.
Step 2: Set the trigger (Videolink)
- App: Videolink
- Trigger event:
Video Viewed
This triggers every time someone watches your video.
Step 3: Send event to ActiveCampaign
Add a new step:
- App: ActiveCampaign
- Action:
Create Tracked Event
How to find Event Key & Account ID
Step 1: Open ActiveCampaign
Go to:
Settings → Developer
Step 2: Locate your tracking credentials
You’ll see:
- Event Key → used for authentication
- Account ID (actid) → your account identifier
Copy both values into Zapier:
| Field in Zapier | Value |
|---|---|
| Event Key | From ActiveCampaign |
| Event Account ID | From ActiveCampaign |
How to create an event in ActiveCampaign
Before using the Zap, you need to define the event.
Step 1: Go to Event Tracking
In ActiveCampaign:
Website → Site Tracking → Event Tracking
Step 2: Enable Event Tracking
- Turn Event Tracking: Status ON
Step 3: Define your event
You don’t need to pre-create events manually — ActiveCampaign will register them automatically when first received.
However, best practice is to standardize naming:
Use:
video_view
Step 4: Use the event in automations
Now you can:
- Go to Automations
- Create a trigger:
- “Event is recorded” → video_view
This allows you to build flows like:
- “Watched demo → send follow-up email”
- “Viewed pricing video → notify sales”
Step 5: Test and publish
- Click Continue
- Run a test (watch a video)
- Confirm event appears in ActiveCampaign
- Click Publish Zap
Example workflow
- You send a demo video
- Prospect watches it
- ActiveCampaign receives:
- Event:
video_view - Value: video URL
- Event:
- Automation triggers:
- Sends follow-up email
- Notifies sales
Why this matters
This setup gives you:
- Real-time behavioral data
- Better segmentation
- Automated follow-ups based on intent
- Clear visibility into engagement
